Adlumens on Discord, Patreon and Kofi
Last changed on
A while ago, I do did spend some time uploading videos and images to various forums or subreddits; I am not doing it anymore at the moment because I am knee-deep in the game entities "design" phase. And by "design" I mean building something, trying it out and saying to myself "nah, this is not exactly what I want, let's scrap/change this and that and so on.".
Anyway, I thought I'd try and increase Adlumens's visibility in two quite different ways.
Adlumens on Discord
The first is an obvious choice given how rich Discord communities are (in spite of the latest updates that some are predicting will be their downfall…). Discord's software works well, their UI is nice and frankly it is an overall nice extra to have. So without further ado, here is an invite link, which you must click:
I hope to see you there! We already have a couple of people in the various channels… some talkative, others still lurking in silent mode but who knows! If you are interested in Adlumens and potentially be in touch in what feels like a perhaps more natural and direct medium, then please join! <3
Adlumens on Patreon
If you believe In Adlumens, or believe in what it could become, and have a couple of dollars/pound/euros/anything else lying around monthly, well please feel free to do what Patreon allows you to do.
I honestly realise I do not offer much in terms of premium relationships, exclusive content and the like -- simply because I do not have time for that kind of "meta products". But any form of Patreon support would mean a lot (and I do mean a lot); not financially, but humanly first.
Either way, your mere presence here (and the fact that I hope you come back once in a while) is already support enough!
Please feel free to at least visit Adlumens's Patreon, and decide from there! <3
Oh… and on X as well
Oh… and on Ko-fi as well
Because why not? Adlumens on Ko-fi.
Future updates will includes these links in the footer!
Other updates
The entity engine is not only a long and arduous process on my end (even though it is lots of fun) but also a strong and clear blocker for the upcoming site changes. Simply put: everything is linked/tangled and the site reflects the database tables quite transparently. The consequence is that, for as long as I am not satisfied with the back-end, the site will not change -- even though the backend can change later and iteratively, but I do want the initial version to feel right. Apologies for that! :-)
Which is why I feel compelled into telling of minor updates that will come too:
Habitability scores will be back
A picture, a thousand words, etc:
This was present in the old procedural engine version and will be back. I shall not go into why it was removed; ah yes I will: I was lazy and hid it under a carpet until a user reminded me of its existence. :blush:
I will go back to it after entities:
- Making scores more meaningful, at least if one inspects their details;
- Starting to tie local conditions to damage types (chemical atmospheric composition, temperature, pressure, irradiation, etc);
- And perhaps (as requested!) will implement a search tool, which will basically be a background async task reporting in real time what it finds depending on search criteria. May not sound like much, but it actually is! :-)
Crustal suface composition
This is far far more useful that it looks on the surface (hahaha Dad joke!). However, if you dig a little deeper (ok I'll stop), you realise that this will be incredibly useful for planetary surface rendering. Remember this WASM tool that was temporarily taken down? Well it will come back and make use of just that:
- Use the compounds native/non-native and mineral/rock types to determine chemical and physical characteristics
- Use colours to go beyond the basic "black = low elevation", "white = high elevation"
I sincerely can't wait to go back to this, but first things first and entities are my priority at the moment!
In closing for now
Again, thanks for taking the time to read this, and click clicky on those links above! ;-) Doing so is a nice way to show support!
