Atmospheric scrubbing
I know it works great. But think about it. If we can programme these tiny little buggers into doing that - what about those who would do the same thing to scrub us? Kareo Oli, a worried settler - AF314
Atmospheric scrubbing is an evolution of more traditional atmospheric conversion techniques, which were characterised by a form of concentration, in the form of one or more relatively major systems or plants.
The evolution is based on intense usage of swarming micro or nano drones (often dubbed "atmophages") programmed to perform tasks such as:
- Gathering of particulate matter
- Molecular ingestion/conversion of various volatile compounds (VOCs) or contaminants
- Favouring or blocking the proliferation of atmosphere-borne molecular organisms
- Self-replicating up to certain, pre-determined critical mass or concentration and if necessary, self-recycling
Variants use biosynth drones instead of fully artificial ones.
