Bionics is behind the study, design, creation and maintenance of equipment combining synthetic/robotic and biological elements. It is a specialised and almost logical continuation form of Cybernetics, which focuses on "macro" principles - the installation of such equipment and interfacing it with a biological host.
Bionics aims at the following beneficial evolutionary and practical applications:
- Integration of artificial elements into in living organisms; this enhances the host, at a molecular level, with an extremely high level of integration/fusion
- Usage of pseudo-biological material (organs, tissue) in artificial hosts; this enables a new form or robotics, more flexible and able to later evolve by themselves
