Bioplastics

Can you believe the case for this weapon is basically made of starch laced with pure Carbon? Look how flexible it is.
It's also almost edible, te-heeee. "Karoline" - (In)famous bounty hunter and sniper, circa AF319

Thanks for advances in polymerisation, Bioplasticity is being redefined by scientists who have turned to biology for inspiration. The outcome is a new breed of materials made from living microorganisms and organic waste, called "biomass". These materials can be engineered to possess properties not found in nature.

The growing and fermentation of biomass into molecules can lead to not only desirable physical properties such as strength, flexibility or rigidity, but also results in total biodegradability.

Research

Tier1.100A decimal number between 0.0 and ~12.0 indicating the overall level of "advancement" of the science
TypeAppliedPure sciences are focused on research and the improvement of knowledge. Applied sciences are too, but to a lesser extent and grant access to more concrete outcomes such as blueprints, governance, and others.
