Economics studies how resources are allocated and used among societies to meet their needs. This is done through a never-ending pursuit of wealth creation and distribution. The science also studies the production, exchange, prices, resource allocation, taxes and currency.
However, the once pervasive influence of scarcity is now an age-old concept from Before The Fall, and thus Economics nowadays more governs how markets function within the management of abundance, refining and wealth creation with the help one or more of the following general principles: production, exchange, prices, resource allocation, taxes, money supply & demand in both a macroeconomic and microeconomic context.
The discipline further studies the concept of opportunity cost - where every economic decision has a trade-off made between different resources. The pursuit of wealth creation and distribution within the galactic markets also dictates that resources are allocated among various needs, leading to price discovery through market mechanisms such as supply.
