The spherical density of the field is really, really, really not concentrated where it should be.

Magnetospherics refers to the deliberate alteration and control of a planet's magnetic field to protect against potentially dangerous (or at best not ideal for an envisioned life form) cosmic and solar radiation, regulate atmospheric dynamics, and enhance the habitability of otherwise inhospitable worlds.
This scientific and engineering feat can guarantee the survival of human colonies on planets with weak or non-existent natural magnetospheres - which otherwise would not be easily habitable - or not habitable at all.
The scientific foundation of magnetosphere manipulation lies in the principles of Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) and Plasma Containment Technology (PCT). By generating large-scale artificial magnetic fields and diverting natural ones, protective shields can be directed and deformed around planets. This is achieved through the deployment of electromagnetic long-range controllers and flexers, strategically placed around the planet's surface or in orbit. These generators produce divert magnetic fields that can be synchronised to form a cohesive, planet-wide newly shaped magnetosphere.
