Stellar engineering
Stellar engineering encompasses the deliberate manipulation modification and control of stars and their processes to achieve desired outcomes, ranging from energy extraction and matter synthesis to altering stellar lifespans or creating stellar-scale structures. This field blends astrophysics, plasma physics, quantum mechanics and megastructure construction.
Applications are numerous and include:
- Dyson spheres and swarms
- Stellar mirrors
- Directed stellar output and extraction
- Star shaping and heliospheric manipulation
- Star fuel lifting
- Heavy element synthesis
