Subatomic assembly

And then this thing. This thing dropped out of H-space one kilometre above the surface of Karelia. One kilometre!!! It was a cloudy sphere, around 100 metres in diameter. Gravimetric sensors went completely off the charts - they were telling us something the mass of Karelia's first moon had just materialised a bit too close for comfort.
It began sucking in the atmosphere. Jean Karovitz - Commander-in-second of the freighter ship Aasimar

Subatomic assembly involves the precise manipulation and arrangement of fundamental particles - such as quarks, leptons, and bosons - into structured configurations to create or modify matter at an exceedingly fine scale. New forms of matter can be manufactured with unprecedented precision.

This field regroups various techniques such as sub-femtosecond pulse lasers, particle confinement fields and quantum coherence stabilisation methods, to maintain coherence at the desired scale and prevent decay and/or annihilation. Various evolution phases generally yield the final products, often called quantum-bound alloys (QBAs), although they may not always technically fit that moniker.

Research

Tier8.900A decimal number between 0.0 and ~12.0 indicating the overall level of "advancement" of the science
TypeAppliedPure sciences are focused on research and the improvement of knowledge. Applied sciences are too, but to a lesser extent and grant access to more concrete outcomes such as blueprints, governance, and others.
